I is time for a new outfit, let´s see what the future is up to
Another two pieces of equipment have been sold
•30/11/2009 • Leave a CommentWell, that has to be done, and i don´t look back - instead i will look forward saving the money i´ve get from this two deals and spend it on my absolute favorite … the Clavia Nord Lead 3, and old dog but still sounds fine enough
TC Electronic – Free M30 Reverb (VST)

here is the link: M30
It could happen that their server will not response proper – it seems that they have quite a lot of traffic
Live Professor!!!!
•10/11/2009 • Leave a CommentThis is a very very cool tool …. when the late evening allows it, i will post a short sequenced demo … absolute fantastic …. it´s a “not” simple VST-HOST
A short pure wavetable-demo on the Waldorf MicroQ
•10/11/2009 • Leave a CommentThis is the consequence on a discussion at the waldorf userforum
Since the MicroQ has no oneshot-LFO, i used the LFO-fade parameter and it works perfect. For this track i´ve only used the two wavetable-oscillators (ALT1&2) with the assigned LFO´s (out-faded) for “wavetraveling”, no filters used, only a bit delay-fx and through my DAW a reverb-instance and a limiter for security-purpose. My intention for this experiment was a discussion on the waldorf-userforum regarding the lack of a oneshot-LFO on the blofeld and how it can be solved.
I used LFO2 with shape SAW and zero-degree startingpoint on both oscillators, PWM on both +53, Wavepointer-positon is 68, OSC2 is -7 semitones below Octave 8-setting ….. both oscillators are symetrically (equally set) blended in and out but without much modulation amount via LFO3, because this would be to fast.
Overall it sounds as if the vocoder is used, but this is pure wavetable-sound and you can notice some sort of “whatyouwant”-speech archived through the SAW-shape of LFO2.
Other settings: LFO2-Speed: 27, Fade -15, Keytrack -38%.
For more “fatness” (whatever this term means) i used poly | Dual | 7 cents
Both SubOsc´s with volume-level set to “30″ and Frq.Divide “2″ are keytracked with value -64 in the modulation-matrix so that the volume for the subOSC´s is boosted on the lower octave-range. For the blofeld-user i recommend OSC3 with Square-Wave mixed in and keytracked, just in case someone has in mind reconstructing the sound.
Some thoughts
•20/10/2009 • Leave a CommentWell, all of the projects are on ice at the moment….. i don´t have the money for this things right now (fucking winter, need new clothes and boots) and time is very short to do something …. this is a state i´ve mentioned in another post before. The sequencer-project has to wait till christmas when i will get my christmas allowance …. this will make more sense buying all electronics together and not separated saving transport-costs. My last material-exploration let me think so…. it can be highly frustrating when you discover that some parts have to be ordered from different suppliers (mouser, digikey, etc.) which let explodes shipping-cost.
So let´s see what the future brings
i know, this blog lacks from ongoing information…. i would also like to compile a whole documentation on the sequencer-project with pictures and links so that everyone who is interested in, is capable to built one… this should be no competition to ucapps.de (the guy behind that is Thorsten Klose – the inventor), more a walk-through
I also promised to put on more waveforms for the Blofeld …. well, not many people checked the boxes on the poll-table although the post with the poll has quite a lot visitors …. but as always …. people have to be nailed down fo a while on some posts, if they do not see something with significance, the flow away … maybe i should post a nice picture with a fine booty below the poll-table
It´s all about money
•08/09/2009 • Leave a CommentIt´s all about money, to this conclusion i came recently. Since i don´t have much money spending on things i´d like to have, i always try to keep a balance between things which are essential for living (food, clothes, rental fee) and things regarding my spare-time (social activities, synthesizers, pc, books, films, traveling, sports etc.). It often happens that i catch myself in a state in which i dreaming about a new synthesizer or better a gear of my desire, clothes i´d like to have, social activities i´d like to share with my friends (and not all of them are free of spending money), countries i´d like to visit and so on….. coming down from this sphere can be not directly described as a crash but more as state of frustration. This process is ongoing since years and i think it will last hardly two years from now till the moment i finished my diploma and finished the education as a clinical psychologist which usually follows after diploma.
I am going to sell my Yamaha A4000 – SOLD!!!!
•15/08/2009 • 2 CommentsThis was a decision not easily made, but during my experiments with the A4000 side by side with the simple sampler-plugins from my FruityLoops-DAW it came through mind that the work-flow is second to non on my DAW. Sure, a sampler may have his own charm and i know that from lurking throughout the web and witnessed the people who take care of there sampler (AKAI, Yamaha, EMU etc.) but whatever, i have to move on and i also do not have the place for it. Seeing what today’s Software-Sampler are capable in terms of modulation, filter etc. – i would say the time of the pure HW-Sampler is almost of . This, and the work flow and etc….
In sum the following reasons for selling are essential:
- The complicate work-flow
- Beyond experimenting with it, nothing essential was achieved
- I put in a lot of money, getting this peace of equipment running (SCSI-Adpater, SCSI-CD/RW, SCSI-CABLES, SCSI-HD, RAM and not forget mention all the transport-fees) –> see point 2.
- The typical problem of missing space in my very small sweet-home
- I want to go a step further since my DAW is pleasing me very well in terms of sampling, and i want to use the money for buying a HW-Synth
Some Pics:

The Space-Problem! As you can see i would also need another Rack for mounting this very deep constructed sampler. This would cost more space in my very very small room in which i life, sleep, eat, work and so on....

Sideview of the A4000

The discs! Disc 2 is missing, Disc 1 with the tools will be burned. I´ve only got two of five A4000 Demo-Floppy-Discs
On word to the encoders: As i bought the sampler, the guy from which i get this engine, didn´t tell me about the condition of the encoders. Parameterjumping was common. After i applied Deoxit D5M the problem was solved to some degree but jumpings still (eg. from value 75 to 90 etc.) appear on the encoders two and three when moving them fast (seen from left to the right).
See here the video for some impressions how the encoder are now working (sorry for the blurred video which has been recorded with my samsung mobile):
Once again, which enhancements have been made:
- 128MB Ram-Upgrade
- 4 GB-SCSI-HDD mounted
- external CDR-Drive from Yamaha inclusive cable
For details go to this post: My Yamaha A4000 Story
WEll with transport 126 Euro, thats not much but it is money, so what!
Poll: Your voice counts – Samples for the Blofeld
•01/08/2009 • Leave a CommentMultible answers are possible, you can check only one box or all - for fine adjustment rather check the three things you´d like most.
If you still missing something make some suggestions. But keep in mind i am not a professional ….. the things you get by me maybe not the things you get from a professional studio, but they are free
